Share Your Story With Our Runners and Walkers in "A Peace of Kate"

A couple of years ago we started a segment called "A Peace of Kate" to allow friends and family of my sister, Kate, to express their feelings and love through memories and thoughts of Kate. This was an incredible segment that I received a ton of heartfelt feedback on, and that people really looked forward to each week.  It allowed all of you to "learn" Kate if you will, and to feel the love that so many have for her.

We opened up " A Peace of Kate" to you all last year and it was such an amazing experience to see and hear, so many others stories of their loved ones battle with Cancer. so again this year I would love for you to forward to me directly any story, thought or memory that you would like to share about someone you love that has passed, is currently fighting any form of cancer, or who is a survivor. Our vision is to share these stories with everyone and to simply make a difference, hence the name of our event The Bay Head 5k Memory Run!   I am well aware with how tough it is to speak of something so close to your heart, and I ask that you please let me know when reaching out with a thought, story or memory that it is ok for me to share this with everyone involved in our event. If you would like to share, you can send me your stories directly at edfshea@optonline.net. We  truly look forward to hearing and sharing your stories, it is so important to attach a name and face to a story of a person battling Cancer!

Start a Team or Join a Team to Help Raise Funds for Cancer Related Research and Education!

The past couple of years, our team concept for our event has become an incredible addition to the day. Collectively, our teams have raised over $40,000 dollars in 2 years! All of which has been donated to Cancer related research and education. Simply amazing.... Excellent job from all of our Bay Head 5k Memory Run/Walk teams! What better way to run/walk for a cure for Leukemia/Lymphoma than to do it in memory of a loved one that has lost their battle with any form of cancer, is fighting cancer, or especially to celebrate that special someone who has overcome their battle! We are excited to bring the team concept back again for our 11th Annual Bay Head 5k Memory RunOur website www.bayhead5k.com has been revamped to make this an easy way for you to create a team, to join a team, to sign up as a single runner/walker, and to get your ticket to "The Best Annual Summer Kick Off Party" on the beach, in our own private space at Martell's Tiki Bar In Point Pleasant!

Here's how the team concept works:

  • Each team consists of a minimum of 5 members
  • Each member pays their $25.00 entry fee and then pledges to raise a minimum of $75.00 more through donations from friends and family
  • Each team will be listed on our amazing race shirts that we will be designing for this years race as well
  • The 1st2nd and 3rd team that raises the most money to help in the fight against Leukemia/Lymphoma will also be given prizes for their fundraising efforts.

The Bay Head 5k Memory Run teams up again with DKMS, The Delete Blood Cancer Organization!

We are pleased to announce that we are again partnered with The Delete Blood Cancer Organization  Deletebloodcancer.org. Meghan Rizzo, who is a survivor of leukemia, and her family and friends will have a station set up at our event, to actively register people to become a stem cell donor. This will take place before, during and after the race. This is a quick and easy process that simply swabs the inside of your mouth for a sample.  One of our main goals at The Bay Head 5k Memory Run, is to get as many people as possible registered into the DKMS national database, to give those afflicted with Cancer more of a chance to find a donor match. We registered over 150 runners at last years event and our goal is to double that number this year! It takes 2 minutes, so please look for the table with the red balloons and the DKMS logo to help make a difference and possibly save lives. As if potentially being able to save a person's life isn't enough incentive, we will also be picking at random, from all who register, for 5 sets of 2 tickets to our excellent "all ages, family friendly" after party with open bar, d.j. and full bbq on the beach at Martell's Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant, N.J. from 12-5pm!

Happy fundraising from all of us here at The Bay Head 5k Memory Run Team!

We are looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful, smiling faces for this years event and after party, and can't wait for May 17th!

Best Always,

We are excited to bring the team concept back again for our 11th Annual Bay Head 5k Memory Run. Our website www.bayhead5k.com has been revamped to make this an easy way for you to create a team, to join a team, to sign up as a single runner/walker, and to get your ticket to "The Best Annual Summer Kick Off Party" on the beach, in our own private space at Martell's Tiki Bar In Point Pleasant!
